Ghostbusters: Afterlife Trailer Review

Who You Gunna Call?

Definitely these kids! Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer is here and this is exactly the type of “threequel” we should have gotten all along! Check it out:

This movie looks like it is going to be all sorts of nostalgia, while also paying the correct amount of homage to the original. I love that this is a continuation of the lore and that it really seems to hit the right points. I can already tell this will be leaps and bounds better than that nonsense that was released in 2016 (we won’t talk about that). They also have Paul Rudd saying “There hasn’t been a ghost sighting in 30 years” completely erasing 2016 out of existence. I love it!

Breaking it Down

We open on the “new-age 80s king”, Finn Wolfhard doing Finn Wolfhard things and starring in an 80’s inspired movie. I love that he’s typecast now, because he is really a great young actor and I know a lot of people enjoy him in his roles. Another person people absolutely love is Paul Rudd. I am pretty excited to see him in this movie too! It seems like he is going to be a great mentor to the kids who are just learning about what being a Ghostbuster really means. He geeks out over the ghost trap and calls New York the “Walking Dead” of the 80s, that’s awesome.

Yes

“Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma.”

There are so many things happening in this trailer. All of the things Spengler has collected over the years that are now passed down to his grandchildren; gadgets, uniforms, evidence, proton packs, you know, normal things to pass down. They get to learn the ways on their own and figure out what is happening to their town.

We get to see the Ecto-1 in action! With Finn Wolfhard behind the wheel it looks like it’s going to be in good hands. I am excited to see these new actors taking up the mantle as Ghostbusters. Watching McKenna Grace sit in the gunner seat and fight that ghost was awesome! I personally think that those two are going to do their fictional late-grandfather proud! On that note, I can’t wait to see where the rest of the original cast come into play. Will they come bust ghosts with the new Ghostbusters? Or just mentor from afar? I can’t wait to find out!

What do you think of the Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer? Will you be seeing it opening weekend, waiting to stream it on your comfy couch, or none of the above?
