A little less than a week ago,
Disney+ released a preview for “Muppets Haunted Mansion” their upcoming special. I was waiting to see what it was all about because as a long time Muppets fan and a long time Haunted Mansion fan, it was right up my alley. Check out the scary good preview below:
Muppets!
I really don’t think I could have asked for a better redo of anything Haunted Mansion. The Muppets always bring such a fun depth to anything they do and this is a new and exciting take on a lot of people’s favorite ride. I’m really happy they went this direction and didn’t do something Nightmare Before Christmas, because the Muppets just feels more fitting. It looks like they’ve done an incredible job!
Let me first start by saying that this is exactly the mashup I did not know I needed. It looks witty, cute, and downright perfect. There are some great jokes and surprises that were shown. It looks like this special was filmed in the actual mansion itself, because the stretching room is too perfect. The façade on the outside looks very reminiscent of the Phantom Manor (Disneyland Paris’ version of the attraction) but the entirety of the inside is a perfect replica of the original Disneyland ride. I am so excited to see what story they tell.
Obscurity
My two favorite things on this planet are scary things and Disneyland. The Haunted Mansion is my aesthetic and I know a lot of random trivia and strange facts about this ride. With that being said, I am beyond excited that Fozzie Bear is portraying Hatbox Ghost aka Hattie. He’s my absolute favorite character in the entire ride (I have a pretty large Hattie tattoo). The Hatbox Ghost hasn’t been portrayed in anything other than Disneyland’s version of the ride and merchandise since 1969! He has a very interesting story, and if you’re curious I implore you to look it up. It is exciting to see him getting some love! We also get to see that our dearly beloved Constance makes an appearance. I’m sure she’s hoping we’ll all hurry back to Disney+ on October 8th to check this special out!
