The long-awaited trailer for Part Two of Denis Villeneuve’s telling of Dune has finally dropped and I am very ready to return to Arrakis. First, let’s go to the trailer and then we can talk a bit about it.
Right from the start, we get Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan narrating the trailer which was exactly what we wanted to see going into Part Two. Then we got to preview the action that is set to come in the next installment of this franchise. While the first film might have felt somewhat tame, the worldbuilding was essential to what is coming. The visual choices of black and white for the house Harkonnen scenes were an excellent artistic choice.
And if it wasn’t clear from the trailer, Paul’s journey has some big things coming. Book readers and those who saw the film down in the 80s can all agree that Paul is not a hero in this story. Austin Butler as Feyd doesn’t have the same flare that Sting had, but he does feel far more menacing here which is what they should be going for.
