Outlander and Blood of My Blood Release Info at SDCC

Outlander Season 8 Tease Art. Photo provided by Starz.

This week is the big event, San Diego ComicCon. And today, Outlander and Blood of My Blood painted Hall H tartan with a 2-hour presentation covering the upcoming seasons of both shows. BoMB starts on August 8, with the first two episodes!! And disappointingly, there’s still no actual date for Season 8 of Outlander – the show only says that it’s coming in “early 2026.”

While I’m waiting for info coming from my correspondents Koko Pipkin and Laura Miller, I wanted to bring you the bits that have been released so far! Starz gave us two clips from BoMB. (Disclosure: I’ve seen the first 6 episodes, and later next week, I’ll have a chance to meet several of the cast members. I’ll bring you that discussion after it happens!) All I’ll tell you at the moment is – I love it! When I post the conversation with cast members later this week, I’ll give you a more detailed preview.

The panel included stars of both shows. Left to right – executive producers Matt Roberts and Maril Davis, BoMB stars Hermione Corfield (Julia Moriston), and Jamie Roy (Brian Fraser), Outlander star Sophie Skelton, BoMB stars Sam Retford (Dougal Mackenzie), Seamus McLean Ross (Colum Mackenzie), and Rory Alexander (Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser).

This clip is the beginning of the fabled love story of Ellen and Brian – their eyes locked in a barn at Castle Leoch, and this is their first secret meeting.

“Yearning is just in Fraser blood. See more of Harriet Slater (“Ellen MacKenzie”) and Jamie Roy (“Brian Fraser”) in the two-episode premiere of Outlander: Blood Of My Blood August 8 only on STARZ.”

And here’s just a bit to introduce you to Claire’s parents, Henry and Julia!

Hermione Corfield (“Julia Moriston”) and Jeremy Irvine (“Henry Beauchamp”) star as the parents of Claire Fraser in Outlander: Blood of my Blood, premiering Aug. 8 on STARZ.

The first episode was not shown at SDCC, but the premiere is being held this coming Monday night, July 28th.  You can watch the red carpet live on the Starz YouTube channel, probably beginning at 10 pm Eastern/7 Pacific, but it could be earlier. Keep an eye on Outlander’s social media accounts. You can expect that while attendees will see the first episode, it will not be shown in the red carpet video, sorry!

As for Outlander – they also released a first trailer for Season 8 at SDCC! But don’t expect much – in the 2 1/2-minute trailer, all but about 20 seconds is from previous seasons. Raya Yarbrough, who originally sang the Outlander theme song (and Bear McCreary’s wife) came on stage and sang the Skye Boat Song for Hall H attendees. And 11 years ago today, at SDCC in 2014, Starz showed the very first episode of Outlander – were you there for it? I was!

Every promise, every sacrifice, every moment has led to this. The final season of Outlander premieres early 2026.

Two weeks to go for Blood of My Blood – are you looking forward to it? Nervous? Already decided not to watch? I’d love to hear what you think – feel free to send my your thoughts via email at erin.conrad@threeifbyspace.net, or comment at our Facebook page, Outlandishly Three If By Space! (Comments may be used in future posts, unless you tell me  you would prefer that I not quote you.) Be sure to check out all of both shows’ coverage from Starz.
