Wynonna Earp Episode 208: “No Future in the Past” Review

Making Waves

Wynonna Earp has gained a huge cult following and became a success almost instantly.  I personally have been watching the show from day one and feel honored to be a part of such an exciting journey.  Not to mention how awesome the fan base is! This year at San Diego Comic Con you could feel the love and support every time Wynonna Earp was mentioned.  Check out my coverage of Wynonna at SDCC here!  The cast are fantastic, the fans are fantastic, it’s just all around fantastic!

What went down (Spoilers)

We left our heroine the week before in a bit of a mess.  She was unsure whether Doc was the father (damn Revenants) and it felt as though she was going to lose it all.  Luckily for Wynonna, she has Waverly by her side through thick or thin.  Or so we think?  Episode 208 brought up even more questions as to Waverly’s background and who she truly is. Things get messy, but we’ll get into that.

The thing I love about this show is that there is always so much going on, but it makes an extremely cohesive story with ease.  We have Rosita and Doc’s story, Dolls and Wynonna’s story, Waverly and Nicole’s story, and so on, but they all come together perfectly.  I really look forward to every week’s episode because the cliff hangers they leave us with are just so killer!

So, we get a taste of the Wild West.

Wynonna goes back in time and gets to watch how Bobo becomes a Revenant.  It’s emotional to watch Bobo, or Robert back then, as a nice guy.  He had such loyalty to Wyatt and the fact that he was ditched without really any regard.  You really feel bad for him!  Then he kind of makes you feel less bad when he leaves Doc in that well, but then again that’s basically how their relationship goes.  Doc is mainly in the past in this episode, there is a bit of a tiff between him and Rosita (over Wynonna of course) at the beginning, but that exchange seems to be a good thing for Rosita.  If I’m being honest I didn’t like her at first.  I didn’t want Doc to be with anyone other than Wynonna, but as the season progresses I really am starting to like her!

Dolls is just great this episode.  He’s so protective but not overbearingly so.  The creepy sisters are after Wynonna, of course, and Juan Carlos does his best to protect her.  He does his best to keep her safe but in the end they overpower him.  Aw, Juan Carlos! He had a good life of immortality though!  Dolls saves the day by making sure Wynonna doesn’t wake up too early from her vision and keeps the creepy sisters at bay, for now.  When she wakes up they have a really cute exchange and it makes me start rooting for the Dolls and Wynonna pair up.  Then again, Wynonna is too strong to really need a man.

Ding: This week’s cliff hanger!

After Rosita and Waverly had a great time for the “Baby Bash” Nicole kind of ruins it.  I know she was just trying to protect Waverly, but c’mon! That’s a really important piece of information and to have opened it without her consent! Psh. Absurd.  Not to mention to hide the results from her and to hide that she opened it.  It just makes ya mad! Wow, I want to know the outcome of the DNA test! What does it mean if Waverly isn’t an Earp? What does it mean that Bobo is back?! When the cliff hangers are so good you hate having to wait a week, that’s good TV right there. Stay tuned for the episode next week!
