FX is returning to San Diego Comic Con and bringing Fxhibition back to the lawn at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel. Fxhibition has been a fan favorite when it comes to the off-sites of San Diego Comic Con and their setup for 2018 looks like it will be nothing short of amazing. The huge activation will feature some of the networks’ most beloved shows, bringing them to life through an interactive combination of art and technology.
“FXhibition 2018 will incorporate Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for the first time as part of innovative installations from hit shows such as Legion, American Horror Story, Mayans M.C. and Archer. The event will use NFC on-site to record each moment of their personalized journey through the space, which will be captured in a virtual online gallery.”
Legion: Hot off it’s debut as a pop-up in LA, “The Legion Chamber” art installation will be making it’s SDCC debut! The Legion Chamber is a fully immersive experience because once inside the chamber – “participants will find themselves disconnected from the outside world -literally- and fully entrenched in the hypnotic digital realm of David Haller.”
American Horror Story: Though we won’t be getting an AHS panel at San Diego Comic Con this summer, fans can still celebrate the show and feel like they are part of the experience with the “American Horror Story Eccentricities Gallery.” The gallery will feature a collection of art and oddities inspired by the deep and terrifying AHS lore. The Eccentricities Gallery is a unique Augmented Reality (AR) experience, which reveals the dark secrets behind each object and gives clues for the upcoming 8th installment of the series.
Archer: Archer fans will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to really get inside the heads of their favorite characters. This is a whimsical installation that allows fans to capture a photo of themselves inside suspended sound boxes adorned with character art. Each sound box features classic sound bites from the show!
Mayans MC: This is the ultimate photo opportunity for Mayans MC and biker fans – the “Deconstructed Bike Zone.” The deconstructed motorcycle is a bold display to introduce Mayans M.C., the highly-anticipated series from Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy. It will also feature a gallery of other acclaimed artists’ takes on the new series, including El Mac, David Floresand Oscar Magallanes.
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia: Step into Camp Paddy’s Irish Pub during the Fxhibition to celebrate the shows upcoming 13th season! The space will feature playful camp-themed elements including a photo op, sunscreen and water stations.
In addition, one of the coolest offerings I’ve seen from an activation yet – you’ll have the chance to “FX 3D” yourself! “Any fan can become an FX hero: Just by stepping into a state-of-the-art 360-degree scanner that captures your picture from all angles, you’ll be transported into a digital art piece from your favorite show. Participating fans will also have an opportunity to get a physical 3D figurine model of themselves.”
As you can see, the Fxhibition activation is going to be one hell of a party. You’ll want to Register In Advance (NOT OPEN YET) to secure yourself a time slot at this great event. The Fxhibiton will be open at the following times during San Diego Comic Con:
Thursday July 19th – 12pm to 6pm
Friday July 20th – 10am to 6pm
Saturday July 21st – 10am to 6pm
Sunday July 22nd – 10am to 2pm.
