Asta’s hard work is gaining him recognition from the Wizard King and he’s given a new task—investigate a magical dungeon! Together with Noelle and Luck, he’ll learn they weren’t the only ones sent to explore. Yuno and his Golden Dawn teammates are also after the secrets. But their race to the treasure takes a dangerous turn when they come up against mages from the Diamond Kingdom.
Review
Asta has finally shown himself to be a useful member of the Black Bulls. He even earned a visit from the Wizard King and a star for the Black Bulls. The team is then given a new job they must complete for the Wizard king, investigate a magical dungeon. Turns out Yuno is there too trying to find the dungeons secrets. This gets Asta all fired up as Luck and Noelle help search the dungeon.
Before that, Yuno and his team make a visit back to his home village. While there Salim who he beat in the entrance exam tries to set him up and take his grimoire. Klaus figures out what was going on an puts a stop to it.
Back at the dungeon, the teams learn that some mages from the Diamond Kingdom were also there. During the second arc, we learn more about Luck and Noelle. It is nice to get some expansion to the team around Asta and not just all about him. The arc itself is short going from episode 14 to 19 as they complete their investigation of the dungeon. Asta even manages to break out some new skills in the mean time.
Black Clover has a nasty habit of spending a lot of time each episode of recapping. Then getting very little done each episode. Naruto had similar issues but thankfully there has not been a ton of filler with Black Clover. Not yet at least. The series is still fun and unique even if it falls into many of the tropes of a shonen anime.
