SDCC 2019: Watchmen 2019 Preview

Who Watches The Watchmen?

From this preview, I’m going to say that the answer to that will be everyone! The preview released yesterday at San Diego Comic Con! Take a look:

Clocks Ticking

This looks like nothing that has ever been done with the Watchmen. From this preview we can get a few hints to a possible story line. Obviously, we’re pulling some Doomsday Clock into the story but also adding a cult of Rorschachs to the mix. Is this post Doomsday Clock? Will the show pull from the original comic or more from Doomsday Clock? Will we see any of the other original Watchmen?

The headline on the newspaper says “Veidt Officially Declared Dead” so does that wipe out Ozymandias as a villain? Well, then later in the preview we see him, as played by Jeremy Irons, alive and well blowing out a candle on a cake. Nice touch making the cake the same colors as his costume. How much will this play into the universe that we know and love? I’m a huge Watchmen fan, so I have some reservations about this show. However, in knowing and trusting DC with their television (not the movies), I think it’ll turn out well.

Watchmen

Our main character (?) is a masked vigilante with a family that seems pretty important to her. I wonder what her motivation is and what we’re going to learn about her. Also, holy crap Dr Manhattan! Is he going to save the world or destroy the world? It’s hard to really say if I’m decently excited about this show. Though, I will honestly probably subscribe to HBO because I am such a Watchmen fan. What do you think? Are you on board for a different twist or are you worried about the new direction? Let us know in the comments!
