Third Eye

Third Eye, The Audible Original, San Diego Comic Con 2023 Interviews!

This weekend during San Diego Comic-Con, a few of the minds behind Third Eye joined us to chat about the project. Third Eye is an Audible Original that feels more like a classic radio drama than a regular audiobook. Written by Felicia Day, Third Eye follows a young woman named Laurel who was supposed to be the prodigy that saves the supernatural world. Instead of fulfilling her destiny, things went all wrong. In preparation for the interview, I had the joy of being able to listen to the first episode and it is awesome! There is so much production value, every scene has additional sounds that make it so immersive. For a limited time, you can listen to the first episode too! Hear it here!

Third Eye Writer and Star: Felicia Day

Felicia Day is the writer and voice of Laurel in Third Eye. Laurel was the prodigy but ends up failing and having to figure out how to navigate life after that failure. Day wrote this character in part because of her past as a violin prodigy and also as an internet prodigy, she wanted to share what it was like feeling the way she felt while also exploring an interesting and vast supernatural world. Worldbuilding is one of her favorite things, so she shared that there was a lot that went into creating the world that Third Eye is set in. As she was writing the script she was thinking about who she wanted to play these characters and so many of her friends were able to join and lend their voices!

We had the opportunity to chat with her, check that out here:

Voice of Sybil: London Hughes

London Hughes was an absolute character! She is new to the “nerdy world” and met Felicia Day through director Jonah Ray Rodrigues. Sybil is Laurel’s best friend, and Day mentioned that she was the only character not cast yet when Rodrigues suggested bringing London Hughes in to audition and Day immediately knew it was the right fit. Hughes joked that Day wrote the character specifically for her without even realizing that was the case. She talks about how much fun each day was on set and how she really hopes for more seasons to happen!

Third Eye Director: Jonah Ray Rodrigues

Jonah Ray Rodrigues is the director of Third Eye and met Felicia Day while they were working on other projects together. He talked about what it was like directing this project and how he was able to make sure the setting felt real and that everyone sounded like they were actually in a magical room together. The narrator, Neil Gaiman, is the perfect addition to the story. He brings it to life in a way that only Neil Gaiman can. Rodrigues talked about what it was like working with the legendary Neil Gaiman on this project.
