Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga Trailer Drops at Aniplex Online Fest 2023

By: Robert Prentice

Last night Aniplex revealed the first trailer for the third season of Blue Exorcist following the next arc from the manga, the Shimane Illuminati Saga. The new season will follow up after the Kyoto Saga and covers the manga volumes 10-15, and is set to premiere in Jan 2024. Check out the PV below.

The manga which is on its 29th volume is still going. The popularity in Japan and worldwide has lead to the anime’s continuation. This new anime is expected to follow the Kyoto Saga events of season 2, which were canon to the manga, and cover the Illuminati Saga.

Hulu has the entire first season available in English for binge-watching. This 7-year time gap between season 2 and 3 is the longest yet for the series but it doesn’t seem to be stopping the studio from producing more content around the popular manga series.

I highly recommend you binge-watch this and get ready for season 3. If you have Hulu you can binge through the English dub of season 1 now. If not you can also binge through subbed or dubbed on Crunchyroll.com.

Aniplex of America released the series on Blu-Ray and DVD making it a rather expensive series to own, but streaming it is the best option to get you caught up. I plan on buying the manga and seeing where the story goes. Studio VOLN will be taking over with the third season.

The main cast and producers are returning as follows:

  • Nobuhiko Okamoto as Rin Okumura
  • Jun Fukuyama as Yukio Okumura
  • Kana Hanazawa as Shiemi Moriyama
  • Eri Kitamura as Izumo Kamiki
  • Director: Daisuke Yoshida
  • Series composition: Toshiya Oono
  • Character design / Chief Animation Director: Yurie Oohigashi
  • Music: Kohta Yamamoto / Hiroyuki Sawano

We are excited to see Hiroyuki Sawano back for the music as his soundtracks always end up being epic.
