The  Portokalos family is back for another run at the story of their family and their ancestors. The question is, do we really need another film?

Members of the Portokalos family reunite in Greece for a hilarious and heartwarming trip full of love, twists and turns.

Review

Amán! Oh! A third film in the romance comedy space is rarely needed but is usually at least as funny or as romantic, if not predictable, as the first two. However, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is neither romantic nor comedic at all. This has to be the most unnecessary film in 2023. In fact, it was so bad, that it felt like a college film studies class project. Poorly written dialog, completely flat comedic timing, and no romance whatsoever.

Even when the beautiful countryside shots of Greece are shown, they are quickly drowned out with decades-old, poorly shot CGI shots which make the 1960’s feel like cutting edge. In fact, one scene on a boat felt like Weekend At Bernie’s and it wasn’t a scene that was meant to be funny. Also when the same character repeats the same line throughout the film no less than 30 times, it gets old after the second time. Frankly, it was old after the first time.

What more is there to say? The film’s cast struck gold in the first film and perhaps had something with the second, but the third should have never been resurrected from the landfill it came from. Return to sender and send it back to the studio.
