“The Mandalorian & Grogu” Starts Production Plus Ahsoka News

By: Robert Prentice

Star Wars is back in theatres in 2025 according to a press release from Lucasfilm. News broke today that the new film directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, would begin production in 2024, which is exciting news coming off the long actors and writers strike. Buried in the release was also news about the TV series Ahsoka. They noted that Dave Filoni is currently developing season 2 among other works in the franchise.

“The Mandalorian & Grogu” will lead Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, which includes films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni

Favreau’s excitement for diving deeper into Mando and Grogu is easy to see when he commented, “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting,” Favreau shared.

With production starting in 2024, we are hopeful to see the new film in 2025 along with a new season of Ahsoka which left us on a large cliffhanger with huge stakes ahead as we dive deeper into the time post Return Of The Jedi. Plus we simply need more of our Rebels characters like Ezra and Zeb on screen, so bring it on.

Stay tuned for more news as we hear it about the upcoming new titles in the Star Wars franchise.
