Dragon Con 2024 Cosplay Highlights – Pop Culture Trends

Dragon Con 2024 is upon us again and things always surprise us as we look at some of the changing pop culture trends each year. Also the con seems to get going earlier every year. Wednesday night at midnight had a crowd size that in past years would not have been seen until Thursday night or Friday. It is no wonder Saturday badges were sold out several days before the convention even started.

So what are we seeing so far? Fallout is in full force this year, as is Zelda cosplays, along with Arcane top the gaming genre for this year’s cosplay trends. In the movie space, Deadpool and Wolverine are making a larger impact than usual. Deadpool was always a staple at Dragon Con, but the recent film only strengthens that. Beetlejuice is also seeing a resurgence ahead of the sequel films premiere next week in theatres.

As is always the case with Dragon Con, the mashups are also pretty great too. Bringing together various IPs and smashing them together in ways that both make sense and are just plain fun. Some trends did not carry over from last year, namely Barbie and Oppenheimer seem to have fizzled out but the weekend is young.

So here are our highlights from the first half of the weekend.
