According to a newly released article by EW.com, Dark Horse comics has finished its newest Falling Skies comic and is set to release it April 18th via Dark Horse Digital and tnt.tv.

The comic will pickup where season 1 finished just after Tom boarded the alien ship and will give us some insight into the 3 months that pass between season 1 and 2, including the battle of Fitchburg, which it is explained is the defining battle for the new roles that our characters play in the 2nd mass for season 2.

Thanks to TNT and EW.com we get a first look at the epic new comic. The 2nd mass is left with little options but to fight hard as the aliens press forward and with Tom gone, his sons try to cope with his absence and take roles of greater importance in the 2nd mass. Although Hal fits in well as a leader of a small group of soldiers, the 2nd mass (Pope especially) arn’t a fan of Ben and what he is becoming. His increased strength and the continued existence of his harness spikes, continues to make most very uneasy, making it even harder for Ben to try and fit in. However, as far as Weaver is concerned he is the perfect soldier and has become extremely useful killing skitters.

Here is more information from Dark Horse about the new comic.

Dark Horse Comics began working with TNT over a year ago, publishing a free webcomic prequel to Falling Skies. The inaugural comic quickly sold out and was a fan favorite in advance of the series premiere. The upcoming digital comic series, Falling Skies: The Battle of Fitchburg, chronicles what happens to the Second Mass in the three months between when season one ends and season two picks up. With an army of skitters closing in, and the group sustaining heavy losses, the Second Mass shields itself in an armory in Fitchburg ready to finish the battle once and for all. Falling Skies: The Battle of Fitchburg will be released as free eight-page, biweekly comics featuring art by Juan Ferreyra (Rex Mundi) and scripts by Paul Tobin (Marvel Adventures: Fantastic Four, Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man).

Falling Skies: The Battle of Fitchburg launches April 18 on TNT.tv and Dark Horse Digital. Plan on picking up a copy to get you ready for season 2?
