Atop record-breaking ratings for the season three premiere of Game of Thrones “Valar Dohaeris,” HBO has ordered a fourth a season for the show. Sunday’s premiere brought in nearly 4.4 million viewers for the original airing at 9:00 PM with a total of 6.7 million viewers for the evening. With the season three premiere ratings up 13 percent from last season’s premiere, it could even top True Blood as HBO’s most popular show. Given that, it’s no surprise that merely two days after the premiere, Game of Thrones has been renewed for a ten episode fourth season that will premiere next year and will adapt material mainly from the latter half of A Storm of Swords, the third book in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Is it just me or are ten episodes not enough? Either way, I’m thrilled to see this show renewed for another season and can’t wait to see this world and all of its characters come to life on screen. Considering there are currently five books in the series with two more planned, Game of Thrones has the potential for a long run, so let’s hope the ratings stay high enough for HBO to keep producing them!

Be sure to check out our review of “Valar Dohaeris” and tune in Sunday for Game of Throne’s all new episode “Dark Wings, Dark Words” at 9/8 CT!
