Cancellation Notice — The Mist

Sorry fellow Bridgeville residents, the official word has been spoken and The Mist is clearing out for good. Spike TV has recently confirmed that it will not be moving forward with a second season of The Mist television adaptation. In January, Spike TV will be re-branded into Paramount Network, and with the change over there just isn’t quite enough room for The Mist to continue onward. The Mist was Spike TV’s first original scripted series, and I’d like to think it’s helped paved the way for other original scripted series slated to come to Paramount Network in the future.

The Mist was based upon the novella of the same name, written by Stephen King. Though there were some similarities to the 2007 movie of the same name (also based off the novella) Spike did a good job at giving the story a new unique flare. But, as it goes in this business, series come and series go. Season One did leave viewers with a bit of a cliffhanger, and for those not satisfied with the decision, the novella and movie will always be at your disposal. 2017 has felt like the year for King in the movie and television industry, and though I’m disappointed that it won’t be continuing on with a second season, we’ve had a lot of Stephen King horror to enjoy this year.

Love horror and want to catch the other King projects of 2017? A film adaptation of The Dark Tower hit theaters earlier this year and the re-make of It has been a huge success at the box office. Mr. Mercedes on The Audience Network has been well received by critics and fans alike. And this fall on Netflix you can catch film versions of both Gerald’s Game and 1922.
