Outlander Gab: A Busy Week, and A Contest!

Another busy week! But there’s a yummy surprise here – instead of our regular “Get This” segment, we have two Outlanderpreneurs featured, and one is doing a giveaway! Make sure you get to the bottom of the post to enter.

Gotta Have the News

Hannah James, who so brilliantly played Geneva Dunsany in last week’s episode, talks to yahoo.

EW talks to Matt Roberts .

Caitriona, Tobias and Laura Donnelly talk about their fans, from USA Today:

Outlander fan and SoCal member Kelly Brinker wrote this article for the American Cinematographer magazine – interviewed 2 of Outlander’s cinematographers and Jon Gary Steele. Lots of technical info here, but some interesting behind the scenes tidbits!

Barbour’s Q&A with Sam – how many hubbies will be wearing Barbour at Christmas? And how many of you are picking up Sam’s items for women?

And Caitriona wrote this lovely essay for the New York Times about her first steps out of Ireland, toward her modeling, and eventually, acting career.

I just love @SummerPic and @KarenJeanne!

Outlanderpreneurs

Dion Freeman, of Tasteful Tartans, makes gorgeous tartan clutches and other items. Dion says:

I use traditional techniques and the finest materials to create tartan and leather bags, for women who want something special and personal to remind them of Scotland. I was born deep in the highlands, and have always felt inspired by this country’s natural beauty. The tartans I select reflect the colours of Scotland – the greens and browns of the hills, the purple heather, and the blues of the lochs and wild seas.

It was while watching Outlander that I was inspired to create fashion pieces using tartan. The show reminded me how much tartan means to the Scots. They’re not just pieces of cloth – they embody the heritage and proud history of each clan. As soon as I bought my first lengths of cloth, I knew they would work brilliantly.

My bags are contemporary, modern designs, which let the tartans speak for themselves. You can really appreciate the subtle combinations of colours in the weave of the tartans. The pure wool feels luxurious – especially when combined with fine leather and suede. Since launching my range of tartan and leather bags, I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response from customers all over the world. They all say the same thing – that they never realised how beautiful and diverse the Scottish tartans actually are! They can complement any outfit, and add a little splash of colour.

One of my favorites, Wit & Whimsy UK, has been featured in Outlanderpreneurs before, but I I’m quite happy to give you all another look! Cate has some beautiful new items in her shop – great new boxes, charm bracelets, and cards, from not only Outlander, but Game of Thrones, Narnia, Supernatural, and more.

And Cate has once again offered an item as a contest prize! One lucky winner will get this adorable Prince Charles “Mark Me” box, shipped from the UK anywhere in the world. Please go to the bottom of the post and enter!

Get This

Some of the CUTEST new items I’ve seen are on the Outlander store! I love this beautiful Claire blanket. Even though I bought a Jamie blanket at  BoxLunch a couple of months ago, I may have to get this one to go with it. Winter is coming!
