Atlanta Film Festival – Sound + Vision Event Returns

(Press Release) The Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF) is pleased to present the return of the signature mid-week The Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF) is pleased to present the return of the signature mid-week event, SOUND+VISION, to the 43rd annual festival as one of seven Special Presentations. This year, ATLFF joins forces with the Atlanta BeltLine to celebrate the merging of cinema with music and visuals at the free event on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM in Historic Fourth Ward Park, along the BeltLine’s Eastside Trail.

Now in its seventh year and its biggest yet, the event will feature live music, screenings of bold music videos and virtual reality films, unbelievable art installations and Atlanta’s best food trucks, creating an immersive experience like no other. Stage performers include WHOAA, with one half of the duo hailing from Atlanta and whose music video “Candy Love” will screen at the event, as well as Theo and the Bear by Jacob Velcoff on the Main Stage. Following the live musical acts will be a special 80th anniversary presentation of THE WIZARD OF OZ, featuring live performances from the Alliance Theatre cast.

The festival is proud to host the World Premiere of six music videos and one virtual reality film at SOUND+VISION, as well as showcase Georgia film with screenings of five music videos and four virtual reality films that have ties to either a Georgia production or filmmaker(s). Virtual reality films will be screened under The Shed at Ponce City Market and at the VIP lounge at Paris on Ponce, plus projection art will be featured along the BeltLine’s Eastside Trail. “As the Atlanta BeltLine has become a staple in Atlanta’s arts community by establishing itself as a prominent host of art from countless visual artists, performers and musicians, we are thrilled to partner with them for an unforgettable evening,” said ATLFF Executive Director Chris Escobar.

The event has previously been hosted at Atlanta landmarks such as The Goat Farm and Ponce City Market, with previous performers including Big Freedia, Tank and the Bangas, HelloOcho, Kodie Shane, Lonnie Holley, Gringo Star, Biters and Jungol.

This Special Presentation joins the 2019 film lineup of 31 feature length films, 98 short films and 36 creative media presentations. The 11-day event, taking place from Thursday, April 4 – Sunday, April 14, 2019, will also include Opening and Closing Night Presentations, 13 Marquee screenings, seven Special Presentations and a number of Creative Conference events.
