Magic the Gathering is already a household name for many, but Netflix plans on bringing in new life to this beloved card game. The game itself has always been rich in story and characters, joined by beautiful artwork and imaginative play. So it’s really no surprise that the game has been around for years and is still extremely popular. Beginning over two decades ago, Wizards of the Coast had an instant hit on their hands with the original card came first released. From there it has expanded to books, comic books, and also a digital format of game-play. Now, with Netflix and a well known producing duo behind it, Magic: The Gathering goes one step further, into an animated series!
This new Netflix series, “Magic: the Gathering” will explore fascinating story-lines featuring the games most powerful people, the Planeswalkers. The series will be produced by Joe and Anthony Russo (of Avengers: Endgame & Infinity War). They are self-claimed fans of the game, as well as long-time players. Henry Gilroy (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jose Molina (The Tick) have been hired as lead writers.
