The Outsider, the latest Stephen King adaptation, is coming to HBO on January 12th. HBO released the first trailer for this upcoming series, and I am so happy with what they’ve done. This trailer has me hooked, and it shows that HBO understands what fans want to see from this story. Because who doesn’t love a murder mystery with horrifying supernatural consequences? The Outsider will be a 10-episode series based upon the novel of the same name, written of course – by the great Stephen King. The show will follow Detective Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn) as he investigates the grisly murder of a child. The case appears simple at first, but as you can see from the trailer below – takes a sinister and monstrous turn. Don’t be fooled, on first glance The Outsider may sound like your classic whodunnit crime investigation story. This trailer proves that HBO knows what’s up, adding the classic King signature horror flair, and a dash of the supernatural for good measure.
Other cast members include Cynthia Erivo (Bad Times at the El Royale), Bill Camp (The Looming Tower), and Mare Winningham (George Wallace). On-board as executive producers are Richard Price (HBO’s The Night of, The Deuce), Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes, Lost) and Jason Bateman via his Aggregate Films, also joined by Temple Hill Entertainment and MRC. Bateman is also directing the first two episodes and appearing as Terry Maitland.
The Outsider premieres on January 12th at 9pm on HBO.
