Set in the world of the National Treasure films, the new series coming to Disney+ is set to expand that universe from another point of view. Many hope that this series will act as a bridge to an eventual 3rd film in the franchise, as at least a few of the characters and actors from the films will be making some guest appearances on the series. The Disney+ Original series, “National Treasure” Edge of History” is an expansion of the “National Treasure” movie franchise told from the point of view of a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Olivera), a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer in search of answers about her family — who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.
It is nice to see Riley Poole show up in the featurette. Included in that is a pretty a-list cast for the new series both in front of and behind the camera. In addition to Olivera, Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Chicago”) as Billie, a badass billionaire, a black-market antiquities expert, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code; and Lyndon Smith (“Parenthood”) as FBI Agent Ross, a dogged investigator who begins to realize there’s a greater conspiracy at hand.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman, and KristieAnne Reed executive produce the series alongside Rick Muirragui, who also serves as a writer. Jon Turteltaub is also an executive producer. Mira Nair is directing and executive producing.
