As Disney continues to expand the Star Wars franchise, a lot of effort has been put on filling in the gaps between the prequels and the original 3 films. Rogue One is perhaps the best of those attempts thus far, with others like Clone Wars animated series and Obi-Wan also filling in. Many have panned Obi-Wan but in general there was nothing overly terrible about it. Any time you involve the original story characters (Skywalker, Obi-Wan and Darth Vader) you are weighted down by the ghosts of the past.

One of the great things about Rogue One was that while it still setup everything for A New Hope, it was independent of the broader story and wasn’t weighted down by those characters and story points. Que Andor. Based on this trailer, it very much feels like, and even brings back many of the characters from, Rogue One (including Andor).
I am very much excited for this new series. Disney is too, so much so that they are going to make us wait one more month. The release date was pushed to Sept 21st but we will get 3 episodes on launch. But don’t fret, the season is going to be 12 episodes. That is the longest episode count of any Disney+ series in the Star Wars franchise in awhile.
