The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys

*SPOILERS* After a very long wait, patience and a lot of teasers The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys has finally arrived! Let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Without being too bold, and with a lot of speculation, I feel like Gerard Way planned out his entire career. Killjoys reminiscent of the “Sing” video and it almost feels like Gerard waited until My Chemical Romance came to a close before releasing this comic. Don’t quote me on that! Also, before opening the first page, watch the music video for SING.

In the true style of Gerard, Killjoys kicks off with poetic narration in the voice of our good friend Dr. Death-Defying. We join with the girl, a little bit older and all alone, traveling through the Desert. There are Draculoids and Scarecrows running rampant and the battle between B.L.I and the rebels continues.

We meet some interesting characters along the way, and learn that it’s been 12 years since the Killjoys lost their lives (note MCR was a band for 12 years, hmm). There’s a taste of Battery City and how twisted the system really is. The rebels face off with a group of Dracs that have taken two hostages, resulting in the loss of lives and a few answers as to what the Dracs may actually be (speculation, I know). And in true character, the comic comes to an end with a huge cliff-hanger!

The artwork is impeccable and it brings the Killjoys story to life. Honestly, this comic was worth the wait and I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am that we are finally able to hold it in our hands!

(Yes, this review is quite bias, and full of speculation from a life-long My Chemical Romance fan)
