Something Different for the Outlander Fan – Win A Prize Package!

When it comes to  Outlander gear, I’ve been pin-ned, mug-ged and card-ed; red-shirt-ed, film-ed, and autograph-ed. What’s left, after you’ve bought every tote, Claire’s ring, every book edition, all the Bears? Apparently, there’s still more. Here are some of the more, shall we say, unusual Outlander items – some licensed, some not – that may fill that need to go beyond POP toys and t-shirts. And read down to the bottom – I’ll be giving some of these great items away!

Outlander: Destiny Dice

Here’s the first licensed game related to Outlander! (I’ve heard about another potential game coming up, which is why I say “first.” And how many of us have starting making an Outlander Monopoly game? At least in our heads?) This looks like fun – roll dice of Jamie, Claire, Black Jack, Laoghaire, Jenny or Dougal (billed as a “helpful” character, ha) and other favorite characters, to help our heroes fulfill their destiny. Created by Kevin G. Nunn for Toy Vault. Available for pre-order (current ship date is in February) from the official Outlander store. Keep an eye out – I should have a copy to review and give away at some point soon!

Wall Decal

Want Outlander to have a permanent place in your home? Here’s a lovely wall decal so you can display your love in a big, big way! The sentiment may be from the book, but it’s a good reminder to stay optimistic in life. Available from Amazon for $11.99.

Scented Candles

Sure, you can find candles scented with fir (maybe even Fraser fir), and all kinds of food scents that Claire and Jamie would have eaten – but where would you find a WENTWORTH-scented candle?? I’m intrigued, but a little scared to try. What would Wentworth smell like? Desperation? Mold? That long-soaked-in urine smell you get as you walk through urban underpasses? This set of three 4-oz. candles, which also include Castle Leoch and Craigh Na Dun, have unexpected scents, so if you want to give someone an oddly unexpected present, here it is. To be fair, here are the scent descriptions:
– Castle Leoch – a mixture of musk, sandalwood, patchouli, cedarwood and clover leaves
– Wentworth Prison – A feminine and masculine scent with a mixture of musk, amber, lavender, orange and sage
– Craigh Na Dun – a combination of green grass, honeydew melon, fresh cucumber and apples

Available on Amazon for $26.00 for the set.

Handmade Jewelry Box

This Etsy seller, WitandWhimsy, has some absolutely beautiful Outlander-inspired gift and trinket boxes. You won’t receive these in time for Christmas, except for maybe those of you in the UK, but they look worth the wait. This box, the Fraser’s Ridge Christmas Celebration box, is absolutely beautiful! The same seller has a Master Raymond box, a Claire Red Dress box, and a series of boxes celebrating individual show episodes. This item is $44.87 on Etsy.

Walkers Shortbread in Outlander Box

Food is always a good gift, and what’s more iconically Scottish than shortbread? Well, haggis, I guess, but I’m not sending that to anyone as a gift. Walkers Shortbread, always yummy, comes in an Outlander-themed box, with our Jamie and Claire on the front! While a tin would be preferable – easier to keep – there isn’t one YET, so you’ll have to settle for this box with 18 pieces in fingers, rounds and triangles. Browse the site, though, and there are quite a few adorable tins with delicious shortbreads. Available directly from Walkers, $7.49.

Themed Soaps

If you’re looking for pretty, great-smelling, and gentle Outlander-themed soaps, try the handmade pieces from Koko Pipkin’s “You’re A Savvy Shopper” Etsy store. They come in several different styles, from Mrs. Fitz’s Rose Shae Butter Oatmeal soap, decorated with a ribbon and flower trim, to Laoghaire’s Love Potion, with glycerin and rose petals, to lovely layered Ian’s Folly. Not all available soaps are on her Etsy site, so ask for a list of choices. See below for a chance to win one of these amazing soaps! Each bar is between $4 and $5. From You’re A Savvy Shopper.

Bracelets

Here’s an unusual piece of jewelry – metal “knit”, sold by VikingKnitDesigns on Etsy. These lovely items, which have different bracelet colors and coordinating charms – tree of life, celtic knot, snowflakes – are created by Portland artist Becky Wiley. AND, you have a chance to win the lovely blue Breath of Snow and Ashes-inspired snowflake bracelet, and a bar of Savvy Shopper soap! All you have to do to win is comment on this post – here, not on Facebook, Twitter or anywhere else – by Wednesday, December 21, and I’ll choose one random commenter to receive these great gift. Bracelets sell for $30, on VikingKnitDesigns. Note that you MUST click the Rafflecopter box first and check that you’ve commented – that’s how I’ll find you if your comment is chosen as the winner.
