Outlander Gab: Mixed Bag of Fun Stuff

Gotta Have the News

Goodbye Kansas, the visual effects (VFX) company that did Season 3’s fantastic effects, has put out a short video showing what they did – it’s pretty cool!

Matt Carter talks about Outlander filming through this weekend.

If you are attending Wizard World Chicago in August to see Sam and Caitriona, I’d urge you to join our FB group set up for this event. (note that there are questions you MUST answer to be able to join the group.) Yes, it’s a Heughan’s Heughligans group, but there’s no requirement that you be in the parent group to join this one. We’ll give you all kinds of info about the event, the location, transportation, sightseeing, and any get-togethers planned for the event!

The Twitter Tweets

Grant O’Rourke had some time to kill this week, and offered to give bad advice to anyone who needed it. Here‘s the complete transcription!

Get This!

Tonner Doll Company released – and promptly sold out of – their brand new Claire doll today. This gorgeous doll is actually the second Claire the company has made (the first was in the brown floral “stable dress,” made for a New Jersey doll collectors group). I love the shoes! You may – it’s a stretch, but possible – be able to get one through your favorite doll retailer. But good news! A Jamie doll will be released “first half of 2018,” the company’s rep tells me, and I would be very surprised if other Outlander dolls aren’t produced.

You can now pre-order the Season 3 soundtrack on iTunes! You can hear a musical sample on the E! News website.

There’s More to Life

I and good friend Sam Kraupner attended a book signing for another favorite author this week! Pierce Brown’s Red Rising series has a fourth installment, Iron Gold, and I can’t wait to get into it. I’ll be reviewing the book here on TIBS once I’ve finished (give me a little bit) and I’ll be giving away the first book in the series to introduce you to this exciting, amazing sci fi series. Of course, if you can’t wait, the first book is called Red Rising, available on Amazon. Pierce is articulate, interesting, funny – it was a terrific evening.

Ron Moore’s latest project, Electric Dreams, an anthology of films based on short stories by Philip K. Dick, premiered on Amazon recently. If you have Amazon Prime, check it out!

Around TIBS

Are you watching The Magicians? Michelle Harvey interviewed Brittany Curran, Queen Fen.

Tom Gardiner posted a video about upcoming Netflix series Altered Carbon’s amazing fight scenes. Check it out here.

This Week’s Question

What’s your favorite NON-Outlander Twitter account or Facebook page/group? Leave a comment and share it with the world! I personally love anything NASA, and have two Twitter accounts that always make me laugh – We Rate Dogs (@dog_rates) and You Had One Job (@_youhadonejob1).

Can you help us out? YouTube has new rules for channels in order to be able to put advertising on the channel (our revenue from our channel helps pay our site fees). We would appreciate it if you could go to our channel – convention news, Outlander video interviews and wrapups, and more – and subscribe! We have to have 1,000 subscribers by Feb. 20 or lose or ability to monetize this channel. Thanks for your help!
